The Mission

Perfect Start Consulting exists to strengthen and advance early childhood education through systems thinking, public dialogue, professional collaboration, and field-level leadership.

Founded by Tessie Ragan, the work bridges classroom practice, policy awareness, research, media, and instruction — recognizing that meaningful change requires engagement at multiple levels of the field.

The Foundation

Early childhood education is not only relational work within classrooms. It is structural work shaped by regulation, funding, training systems, public narratives, and professional identity.

Perfect Start Consulting approaches the field as interconnected:

Practice influences policy.
Policy shapes sustainability.
Narrative influences public investment.
Professional identity influences retention and leadership.

Strengthening the field requires examining all of it.

The Work In Motion

The mission is carried forward across several interconnected platforms:

Professional Consultation & Strategic Program Development
Structured dialogue focused on sustainability, systems, and clarity.

Speaking, Instruction, and Course Development
Conference sessions, keynote addresses, and the development of higher education coursework examining early childhood systems and advocacy.

Media & Public Scholarship
Podcasting, documentary work, and written thought leadership that explore the historical, political, and structural dimensions of early childhood education.

Advocacy & Field Engagement
Virtual convening, policy discussions, and collaborative initiatives that elevate educator voice and strengthen professional identity.

Long-Form Scholarship
Ongoing book development and extended research designed to deepen public and professional understanding of early childhood education systems.

Each platform contributes to a broader commitment: building intellectual and structural strength within the field.

The Commitment

Perfect Start Consulting reflects Tessie Ragan’s belief that early childhood education deserves serious examination, thoughtful leadership, and sustained advocacy.

The work is rooted in lived experience as an educator and expanded through public scholarship, teaching, and systems analysis.

Strengthening the field requires clarity, courage, and informed dialogue.

This work exists to contribute to that effort.
